Our Story
“You were tour guides at the zoo?” is usually how it starts when telling someone how we met.
“No, no. MIZ-ZOU. Like University of Missouri”
“…Yes, yes — we were both tour guides”
“No yeah … I swear it was a cool thing to do”
And while Maddie would like to say “the rest is history,” Mitch would say it took several years (yes, years) of swooning, flowers sent across the pond during study abroad and more than a few date parties and formals to lock her down.
But, of course, it was well worth the chase — leaving Senior year of … yes … more Lambda / Chi-O date parties, tailgates and even the crowded “Tour Team King and Queen” title to cap it all off.
Now that Mitch and Maddie have been to 42 weddings together (no exaggeration), they couldn’t be more excited for their own.
Nine years in — and too many trips together to count — and they are more obsessed with each other by the day.
And while it may have took nine years to officially seal the deal, Maddie might just have known that it was Mitch all along. There’s one spot on the Mizzou tour where you pass by Shamrock Plaza in front of the engineering school.
Tour guides point to the shamrock stone, and say, “Legend has it, if you walk across, you’re destined to marry an engineer.” Maybe all this time, that journalism girl knew that she would marry that engineering boy.
Meet you at Chicago’s very own shamrock, Old St. Patrick’s Church, on April 24!
